municipalities for youth – m4y

Background

The M4Y project is a grant financed by the Government of Japan through the Japan Social Development Fund (JSDF), administered by the World Bank. It is focused on increasing socioeconomic opportunities for marginalized youth, aged 15 to 24 in Kosovo. The project is designed in response to the growing youth disenfranchisement, itself causing a cascade of negative phenomena among them in Kosovo, such as outmigration, political apathy, and radicalization taking place in many forms.

The project offers considerable assets in the hands of municipalities, for them to be able to address the pressing needs of youth in their immediate society, and also addresses their need for employment as a fold of positive self-realization, which ultimately should lead to both improved socioeconomic situation, and change of perception among them about living and working in Kosovo.

Key project objectives

3,000 youth, hall of which women, have gained soft and project management skills.

500 youth engaged in volunteering activities.

10 municipalities mobilized matching funding for youth-led initiatives.

At least 200 youth-driven community initiatives completed in selected municipalities.
